International Practicums on Implementing High-Speed Rail in the United States

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the International Union of Railways (UIC) are joining forces to produce three International Practicums on Implementing High-Speed Rail in the United States. Join us at one of the three regional events (Washington, DC — February 8-9), (Chicago, IL — February 9-11), and Los Angeles, CA (February 11-13) uniquely focused on providing regional, state, and local decision-makers with the critical information needed to implement high-speed and higher-speed rail.

National GIS in Transit Conference – Nov 16-18

GIS_TransitURISA and the National Center for Transit Research (NCTR) have announced the Fifth National GIS in Transit Conference, “The Route to Success in Transit GIS,” taking place in St. Petersburg, Florida, November 16-18, 2009.  This biennial conference focuses on the growing role of GIS in supporting planning, service delivery, and decision making in public transit.  Recognizing the importance of the conference, both the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) have endorsed the event.

TDP/TBEST 2-Day Courses offered by FDOT/CUTR

TDP Guidance

The Florida Department of Transportation and the Center for Urban Transportation Research are offering a Transit Development Plan (TDP) and Transit Boarding and Estimation Simulation Tool (TBEST) training course. This is a two-day course designed to guide professionals in the preparation of TDPs and the operation of TBEST for use in TDP development and service planning. Participants are welcome to register for either day or both days. There is no charge for registration.

The first courses are scheduled for October 12th-13th at the District 7 FDOT Offices located at 11201 N. Malcolm McKinley Drive in Tampa, Florida. The TBEST course will be on Oct 12th and the TDP course on Oct 13th. Because the TBEST courses are computer-based, space will be limited. Sign up today by clicking here.
